Jin,

I'll be traveling tomorrow and will not be able to make the meeting.

For the general audience -- There is one ongoing issue with the
sPHENIX-grade "newbasic" module - you witnessed the checkin of the new
stuff on Friday.

It builds fine in whichever way (and on whatever machine) I build it,
and not only in RCF. The nightly rebuild, however, crashes building
"ddump". I have been unable to reproduce this. ddump has picked up a
boost class that deals with the list and range parsing of the "-p"
switch; you can now say "-p 1001,1002,1005-1010". That boost class is
not cutting-edge and builds even on the stone-age SL5-based DAQ machine
in use in the High-Bay where the Hcal prototypes are. The error seems to
be in some compiler-library/object:

> ddump.o: In function
> `__gnu_cxx::recursive_init_error::recursive_init_error()':
> /opt/gcc/4.8.2/include/c++/4.8.2/cxxabi.h:692: undefined reference to
> `vtable for __gnu_cxx::recursive_init_error'

I just committed a small change to configure.in that I hope will fix
this, but if that fails, I could need some help. I'm not sure how much
time I can spend until Wednesday evening and I don't want the nightly
rebuild to fail each time. In a few hrs we'll know.

Assuming that works, the next issue is that the newbasic's placement in
"coresoftware" is not optimal. There are many places (such as the
various DAQ machines around here) which really don't care about the
entire software universe, just what's now "newbasic", and pmonitor.

Once we have a successful rebuild under the belt, I would suggest that
we move this into a repo of its own, and finally do away with the
newbasic name. "eventlibraries" seems most appropriate, but we can toss
this around a bit.

Best,
Martin
