Thanks for the quick response. That sounds good to me. For the plate shape and scintillator count, shall we directly update the default macro to reflect that? https://github.com/sPHENIX-Collaboration/macros/blob/master/macros/g4simulations/G4_HcalIn_ref.C
Cheers,
Jin

Hi Jin, One suggestion if you are planning to do another round of full detector simulations - As part of this next round I would suggest you simulate the inner HCAL with flat plates *and* four scintillators per tower as opposed to the nominal five. This has been discussed in the HCAL engineering meetings as a way to simplify the cost of the inner HCAL and get it closer to being within its budget envelope. Engineering drawings of this configuration are currently being done so vendor quotations can be solicited. Simulations for this configuration were run in the recent past and checked for energy resolution and hadron rejection, and found to have almost no effect on the performance as reported at a previous simulation meeting. There's no hard decision to make this change yet, although personally I think it is likely. It would be prudent to produce a larger sample of simulation data with this change and have more eyes looking at the result (especially the ToG's) to make sure the conclusions of the original study remain valid. The number of scintillators per tower is a parameter for the inner HCAL, and changing it will automatically change the tilt angle to maintain four crossings. There's one other parameter (outer radius scintillator
gap) that will also need to be adjusted. On 7/5/2016 11:19 AM, Huang, Jin wrote:
