New Production

New single particle set produced by Chris

/sphenix/sim/sim01/production/2016-07-21/single_particle/spacal2d/

10k-event single particle in following configuraiton, simulated in new reference design defined in re-scoping:

·       eta ~ 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9

·       full azimuth (the 2016-07-06 set only contained a small azimuthal window)

·       p = 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 32, 40, 50 GeV/com

·       zero-field or in simulated magnetic field map

Hints on read back:

·       Read back with default macro and "readhit = true".

·       Double check consistency in detector setup macros with /sphenix/sim/sim01/production/2016-07-21/single_particle/spacal2d/

ITS staves in simulation - Tony Frawley

Summary: Completed the Geant4 code for importing MAPS tracker stave geometry from ITS models

Jin: does Hough transform code take ladder geometry

Mike: Partially at the moment. The track finder will find two seven layer tracks, and the best chi2 track of the two survives ghost rejection.

Tony: Then it uses 3-D coordinate in track fits

Jin: geometry GDML file will be placed in calibration repository and available on RCF

Tony: out-of-box, Upsilon mass distribution with laddered geometry is a fraction worse than the cylindrical model using comparable radius setting.

Plan on tracking review:

1.       Highest priority is to have the tracking chain fully working for the cylindrical tracker model (as agreed last Friday)

2.       Tony plan to finish the development of MAPS ladder in this week

3.       Kun Liu (LANL) volunteered to help testing and polishing the code.

4.       Haiwang Yu (NMSU) plan to test refit through the new Kalman filter, which properly handle material variation

The goal is

1) produce comparison performance plots for tracking review, to show performance with realistic ladder do NOT have large deviation and it is work-in-progress.

2) enlist additional manpower to become expert in the tracking software.

Kalman filter update - Haiwang Yu

Summary: completed 4 items out of 5 items planned. Currently produce GenFit refit track and place results on the node tree as “ReFit” tracks for comparison with the default Kalman filter.

Haiwang: change in Upsilon mass resolution is small between primary track (fit with vertex + tracker clusters) VS nominal tracks (fit with tracker clusters only).

Tony: can this setup already be used now on realistic MAPs detector?

Haiwang: (expect) yes. Not yet tested.

Plan:

Tony: tracking team will discuss whether accept it as default Kalman filter for the review. Right now, it produce a second “ReFit” track nodes for comparison.

Tony: suggest to introduce a second instance of evaluator and NTuple output file, which evaluate the “ReFit” track nodes

Haiwang: test successfully with the new geometry -> DST export (Pull request #183)

Action Item [Jin]: if no more comment, merge pull request #183

Subject: [reminder] sPHENIX simulation and software meeting, Tue July 26th, 1PM EST @ 2-219.

Hello everyone,

This is a reminder that we will have a regular sPHENIX simulation and software meeting, Tue July 26th, 1PM EST. A few of us will call-in from (e/fs)PHENIX Spin WorkFest @ UCR. Meanwhile, BNL physics room 2-219 is available for BNL residents for calling in.

Currently on agenda are a series of next level tracking talks

·       Realistic MAPS ladder simulation by Tony

·       Kalman filter with noise hit rejection and on-the-fly geometry export by Haiwang

More contributions are welcomed too
