sPHENIX discussion of software

Hi folks,

next Tuesday rcf will undergo a major network change. From the network point of view rcf will be moved out of the BNL campus and become a separate entity. This has been prepared for over the last couple of months and every precaution has been taken to make this as transparent as possible for users. But it is a very disruptive change and I am sure we'll find things which don't work when rcf gets back online.

As far as sPHENIX is concerned there is no additional downtime involved - the condor queues will be closed Monday and as soon as rcf is back online condor will resume and you should be able to work again

The RHIC Computing Facility network will be brought 
down for major architectural changes and maintenance 
on Tuesday, December 12, from 9:00 to 18:00 EST. RCF 
users should not expect to be able to access the facility 
during this time, and all batch jobs and interactive 
sessions will be terminated.
