Hello everyone
As the CDR study ramp down and before the CD-1 review, there is request for us to perform an additional study to indicate the change of the performance of the detector under the proposed calorimeter’s Key Performance Parameters (KPP). In particular, the relevant KPP for photon and jet studies are:
* Objective KPP with 5% dead tower + tower-by-tower mis-calibration * Threshold KPP with 10% dead tower+ tower-by-tower mis-calibration, which is the worst case.
And in both cases, calorimeters towers need to be calibrated with beam data. And in this study we will investigate the scenario with possible residual miscalibration of 3% tower-by-tower energy scale difference (a few times that of CMS barrel calorimeter).
New simulation reconstruction setups were introduced to simulate both scenarios of Objective and Threshold KPP. They are put on branches with standardized tags as branch names. More info are documented here: https://wiki.bnl.gov/sPHENIX/index.php/CD-1_simulations There is no need to rerun most of the Geant4 simulation, as the dead-tower and mis-calibraiton are introduced in the digitization and reconstruction stages.
The photon and jet analyzers will be contacted with requests of additional plots comparing jet and photon observables by comparing three tagged configurations: CD-1-reference, CD-1-reference-Threshold-KPP and CD-1-reference-Objective-KPP. Questions and suggestions will be welcomed.
Cheers,
Jin
