Hi Chris

Quick follow up on the MDC1 MB pp pile up vertex setup. Suggest we follow the assumptions in BUP2020, i.e. :

  • From Section 3.1 …The current proposal is to run with the same 2 milliradian crossing angle
  • From Fig 3.3, 2mrad ->
  • vertex sigma of 10 cm
  • total luminosity of 70e30 /cm2/s, @ 42mb pp inelastic x-sec, we have collision rate of 3MHz

Cross check of these numbers are welcomed.

Cheers

Jin

Subject: [Sphenix-software-l] [reminder] sPHENIX simulation and software meeting on Dec 22nd, 1PM ET

Hi Everyone

This is a reminder that we will have a regular sPHENIX simulation and software meeting on Dec 22, 1PM ET

The Agenda for this meeting is https://indico.bnl.gov/event/7446/

It is so far empty - I'll prepare some slides about the status for the mdc. The production has stalled a bit - the tpc sim part takes a really long time and jobs do time out after 3 days. Under these conditions there is not much of a point even starting with the central event processing where the average number of tpc hits is much higher.
Therefore I would like to get some input on the pp sims (we need the vertex distribution and the anticipated collision rate) targeting first the sims we need for the micromegas.
