- Subject: [Sphenix-software-l] New Tracking Macro Scheme
- Date: Thu, 13 Apr 2023 02:24:55 +0000
Hi everyone,
As discussed in the software meeting on Tuesday, we are planning on moving to a new scheme for the tracking macros which separates the G4_Tracking macro into individual macros. This is to completely separate things like reconstruction from evaluation etc., and has already shown to reduce the memory footprint of our jobs. I’ll merge this in the morning before the daily build, after which the G4_Tracking macro will become “obsolete” in the sense that we will no longer actively develop it and if you use it in your macro your macro will exit and prompt you to update to the new scheme. This should only require you to change the includes in your macro to the appropriate new macros as shown in the PR to be merged.

Let us know if you have problems or questions,
Joe Osborn
