Hi All,

Here are the minutes of today's tracking meeting

Cheers

Tony

Itaru - INTT redesign
----------------------
Itaru discussed issues with increasing the Z length of the INTT to cover the acceptance of the TPC for |Zvtx| < 10 cm
He proposed increasing the strip length to 1.5 cm and 2.0 cm to lengthen the 1/2 ladders without increasing the number of readout ports required, or changing the HDI card

There was a long discussion where several issues were raised and suggestions made:

We have to simulate the strip length effect on physics - this should be discussed on Tuesday at the tracking simulations fest, we need to identify the tools and who will do it

It was pointed out (see Itaru's slide 2) that the existing envelope of the MAPS and the new envelope of the INTT leave no space for reading out the INTT on one side.

We discussed some possible alternative approaches:
-- Use of a higher density HDI attached to more readout ports would allow finer Z segmentation - Itaru will look into this
-- Readout on one side only for the INTT (opposite side to the MAPS readout) - Itaru and Rachid will study what would be required
-- Explore whether the MAPS fanout can be made more compact with a reasonable amount of engineering - Ming will look into it

Itaru will find and circulate the mass budget for one INTT layer - what is the mass of the HDI?

Tom Hemmick - TPC progress
---------------------------
Tom described progress on setting up the mandrel and table for TPC construction, complete with videos!

At the TPC software meeting there was a presentation on Olympus, an alternative to a Hough transform for identifying tracks
Carlos and Veronica trying to explore if it makes sense for us - it may be that our granularity is too high
