Dear All,

Attached is the updated MAPS project file for you to use in updating the cost and schedule for your individual activities. The following assumptions have been made.

·      Resources will be available when needed

·      Much of the R&D has been done for the electronics in the LANL LDRD effort

·      Some of the mechanical R&D has been done in the LDRD effort but not the final design and integration.

·      The engineering designs are done at LANL.

·      Physicists and postdocs are listed but on a no cost basis.

·      Graduate students can be costed.

·      Global integration into sphenix should be costed  even though we do not know any details

·      MAPS/sphenix boundary is at the output of the RDU, readout unit.  Sphenix is responsible for the routing and infrastructure after the RDU, we are responsible for the infrastructure before the RDU.

·      The DOE  Office of NP will not pay for management acitivities.

 

We would like you to do the following,  

·      Check the institutional responsibilities and accept or change them.  If the institution is listed on a summary task, you are  responsible for all of the subtasks.  Summary tasks are in Bold.

·      Look at the durations of each task and keep or change

·      Check the resources for correctness, change if necessary

·      Expand the task list for your activites if desired.

·      Change contingency if you want.

·      Supply us with the fully burdened cost for your resources for your institution.  Suggest to keep the number of resources small.

·      Send us changes or additions by utilizing the WBS number in an excel or word document.

 

Guidelines for reading the project file.

 

Some of the start times are linked to activities in the LDRD portion.  Cost is equal to the fixed costs(M&S) + resource costs.  The resources are listed at the end of the gant chart for each task.  If a percentage is listed it means that the resource is used that percentage of the duration otherwise the percentage is 100%.  Summary tasks are in Bold.

 

We need these before the meeting in Berkeley.  If we get sooner than we can have more than one iteration.
