Hi Christof,

the addition of a small space between the strips only reduced the chance of overlaps to below a level where my testing didn't find them.

I've been looking into this since yesterday but so far I can only say that there is something basically wrong somewhere (there is an issue in detecting this condition but doing this right still leaves overlaps on a lower level). Personally I doubt that it is on the G4 side, it's just unlikely that after 10+ years of development basic features like the parametrized volume have those kinds of simple problems.

I removed the abort and rebuild the code to get you going again, the strips will probably show the displacement we have seen for the real overlaps. I hope that by later today I know what's going on here to fix this (rather than spending a lot of time patching it up to hide this issue)

To get the new build you can just resource the sphenix setup script with -n

source /opt/sphenix/core/bin/sphenix_setup.csh -n

Hi Everybody,

When testing the Kalman tracking I am getting a lot of jobs aborted
due to geometry overlaps. The job abort with this message:

Overlap detected in volume siactive_4_0pre and post step point ot same volume for step status fGeomBoundary
WARNING - Attempt to delete the solid store while geometry closed !
WARNING - Attempt to delete the logical volume store while geometry closed !
WARNING - Attempt to delete the physical volume store while geometry closed !
WARNING - Attempt to delete the region store while geometry closed !

Has anybody seen this before?

I have put a set of macros using fixed random number seeds to make
the problem reproducible in my afs public in case anybody want to try:

/afs/rhic.bnl.gov/phenix/users/bogui/public/GeoOverlapIssue

Fun4All_G4_sPHENIX.C
G4Setup_sPHENIX.C
G4_Svtx_maps_ladders+intt_ladders+tpc_tony.C

Thanks for your input
