Hello All,
I would like to have a day of focused work on tracking software in Santa Fe on Thursday the 7th, the day before the collaboration meeting starts. Does that work for everyone?
Hopefully, by that time the initial (multi-) vertexing algorithm and the event pileup chain will be in place. That will allow us to explore the worst case occupancy environment.
Additionally, there are two major thrusts that we need to complete ASAP:
1) The realistic TPC simulation. I am hoping that this gives us some basis for making judgements about the expected performance of the tracking. This requires realistic transport of the primary ionization electrons
electron-by electron, so the production statistics and drift diffusion statistical effects are properly reflected in the track-by-track distribution of primary ionization electrons at the readout plane. Also, the response of the readout plane needs to be parameterized
from real prototype data.
2) Improving clustering / tracking performance in very high multiplicity events. Essentially, how well can the TPC be made to work in the highest cluster density case?
It seems likely to me then that the focus by December will be on TPC simulation realism and high occupancy (clustering / tracking) algorithm development, and what these can tell us about the performance of the tracking.
Comments?
Thanks
Tony
