Hello Ming,

The code to implement alignment constants in the tracking should be part of a PR by Reese Boucher in the next day or two. We just need to get the (all zero for now) alignment constants file in the database.

The constants that are implemented are:
(α, β, γ) = small rotations around the (x,y,z) axis in the frame of the sensor.
(dx, dy, dz) = translations of the sensor position in global coordinates.

These perturbations are combined with the transformation derived from the simulation geometry. The latter is what we presently use in the tracking GeometryContext.

It would be good to discuss how we can do some tests involving deliberate misalignment and correction.

Cheers
Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the slides, they are very helpful for me to understand the current tracking approach.

A quick question about misalignment correction:

We had some discussions among MVTX folks about implementing the MVTX misalignment corrections.

One of the ideas is to use the transformation matrix to implement the offset of a sensor position d(x,y,z,a,b,g) from the ideal geometry (the GEANT).

Do we have a machinery ready to do such corrections?

The current ML-based MVTX alignment has the capability to get the offset d(x,y,z,a,b,g) from standalone tracking.

Cheers,

Ming

Hi All,

Following the discussion at yesterday's tracking software meeting, I have updated my slides on de-aligning and aligning sPHENIX tracking at:

The new slides 9 and 10 outline how I think we can embed simulated tracks in real data without modifying the simulation geometry.

Tony
