    Hi TPC group,
A very impressive result. Thanks to Charles for writing this
thorough report. By the way, how was this testing done
without cooling water? Just curious. Thanks.

Hello sPHENIX TPC crew
I am pleased to report to report that the sPHENIX TPC has finished its full round of in-detector pedestal testing. Although pedestal was assessed on the test bench for each FEE card, and some noise data had been taken at Stony Brook University in November and December, this is the first time the TPC had its noise profile taken while fully inserted into sPHENIX. This in-detector pedestal testing was of the highest priority as any issues which were discovered had to be fixed before our access to the FEE cards became limited by INTT ROC installation.
This was an arduous process supported by the hard work of many people at many institutions. While many contributed, I would like to point out some people in particular, John Kuczewski, Evgeny Shulga, Henry Klest, Ross Corliss, John Haggerty, Takao Sakaguchi, Jin Huang, and Martin Purschke. Thank you very much for all of your hard work, especially during the long hours of the night.
Regarding the performance results:
We have a total of 256 channels in 26 FEE cards in 24 sectors making a total of 159744 channels. We see a total "live channel" rate of about 97.98 % across the whole detector. The sector-by-sector live channel fraction is shown below.

The dead channels in this case are mostly caused by "stuck ADCs" or channels which read a constant ADC value over time. While some of these are unavoidable, we are confident we can improve our firmware to reduce this further. In addition, there are also configuration issues with the SAMPA chips which result in poor quality noise data on occasion. This issue we can also work out. The only other outstanding issue is FEE ID 14 in all sectors which, because of firmware issues, was not able to be consistently read out. This will also be fixed.
The noise distribution of every channel in the detector is shown below - consistent with an average value of about 2 ADCs per channel:

Finally, much work was done in the course of this pedestal testing as connectivity issues/bad FEE cards were found. I am appending a list of the work done, who did it, and links to the record in the tpc-electronics mattermost chat. In addition, .pdf files are attached with a record of the noise data for each sector across all firmware versions.

Thanks again to the entire TPC crew for making all of this happen. Any feedback is welcome.
