Amazing! Thank you Tony, Joe, Dennis, and to all the others who provided feedback and comments on my plots.

Hi Tony,

I just implemented those changes. I attached the latest version. Thank you!

Am I able to change my plots from "Internal" to "Work-in-Progress"?

Hello Adeeb,

Some final comments.

Slide 13:
You now have more empty bins in this η-φ plot than you did before. Try increasing the φ bin size until the empty bins go away.

Slide 16:
"MVTX (𝒪 1 − 10)" should be "MVTX (~ 5 μm)".

Slide 17:
"𝒪 10 micron precision" should be " ~ 25 μm precision".

Slide 22:
There are other major goals for track measurements:
  Open heavy flavor decay reconstruction.
  Track substructure in jets.

Once you make these changes you are approved.

Cheers
Tony

Hi Joe and Tony!

Thank you for your comments and feedback. I have now implemented all the necessary changes into my slides and plots. However, I want to respond to the concerns raised above.

1) I presented my talk to my group at Lehigh this morning and my talk was slightly over 9 minutes. I assumed that the talk would be 10 minutes with 2 minutes of questions so I aimed for a 10-minute presentation. While I do have a large number of slides, I do not spend too much time on the introductory slides. I will continue practicing of course, but as of now, I am within the allotted 10 minutes.

2) For my dE/dx plot, there is in fact a cut on the transverse momentum not the three-momentum of the particle. Based on my discussion with Joe, given our acceptance, pT converges to p at low momentum. This explains why the cut on my plot looks abrupt even though it is a cut on pT and not p.

3) For my TPC clusters on track plot, it does in fact have a cut on the quality of the track. I am selecting tracks with quality <= 100. I think Joe mentioned that the bump near 32 is caused by some dead FEE boards that stop recording clusters after 32. Is this explanation sufficient if I am asked about this?

I attached the latest version of my plots to this email. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks for your time!

Adeeb

Hello Adeeb,

Some comments in addition to Joe's.

Slide # 3,4,5:
The bend plane resolutions of the detector systems are well known. Using "order of" is unnecessarily vague. I suggest using:
MVTX:  ~ 5 μm
INTT:   ~ 25 μm
TPC:  ~ 150 μm

Slide #3:
The MVTX strobe length used in the run is 10 μs.

Slide # 4:
The INTT integration time is less than the bunch crossing spacing (106 ns). This is important.

Slide # 7:
The TPC collection time is now 15 μs, after adding isobutane to the gas.

Slide #11:
This is good.
Add: The collision bunch crossing is determined from the INTT cluster time.

Slide #12:
The plot still has pT < 0.2, should be p < 0.2.

Slide #14:
You were going to replace the ntpc clusters per track plot with a version that was made with a cut of "quality < 100". This should remove the bump around 30.

I agree with Joe, you will have to be well organized to get through the slides in 12 minutes. Make sure you practice with a stopwatch.

Please repost to the list once you update the slides.

Thanks
Tony

Hi Adeeb,

Here are a few comments on your slides. Enjoy DNP!

Joe

pg 7 - reconstruction of full tracks -> reconstruction of TPC tracks

pg 13 - I would remove "evenly populated" and "reflects uniform TPC performance" as there are no efficiency corrections to this plot, therefore there are clear non-uniformities.

Also on this slide, looking back at your slides from this morning I can see that this is the same data but I'm guessing because the binning/y axis range changed there is now a single empty bin smack in the middle of the plot. Can you increase the number of bins to make this go away, as it just looks a little strange having a single white empty bin right in the middle?

pg 14 - well-constructed -> well-reconstructed

pg 22 - The run page you list will not be accessible to anyone outside of the collaboration - did you mean to cite the public page that is www.sphenix.bnl.gov? I would also cite the published paper if you are going to reference it, rather than the arXiv link.

General comments -

Did you consider adding a conclusion slide?

Have you practiced your talk to ensure you are within the 12 minute time? You have quite a lot of slides for a 12 minute talk, but maybe you intend to go through each slide quickly.

Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for the feedback I received today on my slides and plots for the DNP. Your advice was invaluable. I am looking for "work-in-progress" approval on my plots. Please provide any additional comments on my material.

Here is the latest version of my presentation:

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!

Adeeb
