Dear Zachary,

Please find my comments below:

Slide 2: Please consider adding QCD phase diagram and explaining what are the scientific goals of the BES program
Introduce fluctuation method, some variables and quantities you use.

Slide: showing STAR detector would help to understand presented figure here.

Slide 5, 6, 9: try to put less text (rather short pieces of  information)

With those implemented, I sign off.

Best regards,
Hanna

Hi Zach,

Please find my comments/suggestions to your DNP slides :

    1. Title -> Prospects on Proton Cumulant Analysis at the STAR Fixed-Target Program
In your slides, you may add a slide to discuss the QCD phase diagram and motivation of STAR Beam Energy Scan program.

    2. Slide 2, the reference below the plot : STAR,   Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 202303 (2022) ;  arXiv : 2209.11940.

Phys. Rev. Lett. 126, 092301 (2021);  Phys. Rev. C 104, 024902 (2021).

    3. BES-I data showed possible evidence of fluctuations -> Non-monotonic energy dependence was observed in BES-I data with a 3.1 sigma significance.
High-statistics data  with detector improvements have been taken from 7.7 GeV to 27 GeV.-> High-statistics data (BES-II collider mode) with detector improvements have been
taken from 7.7 GeV to 27 GeV. I think you may add a table or figure to demonstrate the stataticics of those BES-II data. Not only show FIX data.

    4. Slide 3, You should have a better figure to demonstrate the Fixed target program at STAR.  and in somewhere to show the muB coverage of FXT program.

    5. After slide 4, you may discuss ETOF detector in detail before showing the acceptance plot in next slide.

    6. Slide 6, Move after slide 4, but not showing the efficiency and PID plot. I think we are not ready to show those plots without proper calibrations.

    7. Slide 7, the title of this slide is covered by STAR logo.

    8. Slide 8, It is not clear to me how the right plot is produced and what does it mean. I suggest not to show this plot before it was discussed in PWG and focusing groups.

     9. Slide 9, Summary : A main objective of the STAR Fixed-Target Program->  "A main objective of the BES-II (Both collider and FIX target) program"
                     Third item : at low energies->at low energies (3 - 7.7 GeV).
Fourth item : 8 new data points -> More data points

With those implemented, I sign off.

Thank you,
Best Regards,
Xiaofeng
