STAR Correlations and Fluctuations PWG

Dear CF Activists,

Following a request I mentioned last week during the PWG CF meeting and thinking of the upcoming Run-23, the Trigger Board team has several questions regarding the trigger's settings.

At yesterday's trigger board meeting, it was asked what kind of triggers we need for the physics program in Run23.

Here are the specific questions asked: 

- What detector or combination of detectors, i.e. VPD, ZDC, BBC, EPD, should be used to define the MB trigger?

In every RHIC Run, the Vertex branch of the QT/DSM tree provides 16 bits to the TCU for triggering. These 16 bits come from the 4 vertex detectors: BBC, VPD, EPD and ZDC. The list of bits is customized for every RHIC running period according to STAR's goals. 

- Is a vertex z cut needed for the MB trigger? If so, what is the range (30, 70, 100, or something else)?

- What are the desired thresholds for BHT triggers? What is the setup for the dimuon trigger? Do they need a vertex z cut? If so, what values? 

People interested in Run-23, please speak up about what is needed, and consider whether you have any (specific) needs regarding triggers.
