Dear Hanna,

Thank you for your comment; let me add a few thoughts on the "Long HBT paper" comparision issue.

1) Part of the problem is, that there are no published 1d correlation functions in the paper, neither in the analysis note. There exists only one such plot, the one in the PhD thesis of Chris Anson, but not every detail is given there either.

2) The verdict yesterday was that no further time should be spent on this for now, but maybe that was really meant for the preliminary request (Toshihiro can clarify maybe). It would be nice to finalize what would be needed to close this issue.

3) A side-note: agreement with published HBT radii was demonstrated for forced Gaussian fits of Daniel. At that time the PWG conclusion was that this is good, but also agreement of correlation functions should be checked.

4) For the future publication of Daniel's work, I can imagine a few directions of this cross-check:
a) comparing to published 3D correlation functions (the drawback there is that there are many additional settings there, first and foremost the projection method and window, but also phi window application; which you need to reproduce exactly, and there may be lack of info on some of these)
b) comparing to some currently running or recently finished identical particle femtoscopy analysis, where the PA would be kind enough to produce a 1D correlation function (the drawback there is that this can only happen at a very low energy, or for kaons/protons, which again reduces the relevance for checking Daniel's analysis; except maybe Yevheniia's analysis, where she may have 200 GeV correlation functions available, with well known settings).

In summary, I guess the idea is that we come back to this point when the analysis progresses towards a paper proposal; but in the meantime, if you, or Toshihiro, or anyone has an idea for any other correlation function comparisions, some particular figure in a particular publication, etc, please let us know.

Best regards,
Mate

Dear Daniel,

I went through your slides from yesterday’s meeting.

I am trying to understand the discrepancies between your results from Run-10 and those published a few years ago Phys. Rev. C *92* (2015) 14904.

We need to understand the selection criteria at each level of your analysis: event, track, pair.

I believe you accessed this website, just in case you did not:

https://www.star.bnl.gov/protected/bulkcorr/canson/Paper/LongPaper/ <https://www.star.bnl.gov/protected/bulkcorr/canson/Paper/LongPaper/>

There is also an available Analysis Note.

As I mentioned before, the fitting should include the first points of the correlation function, and the difference should be included in systematics.

I believe that when you apply the Barlov test, the systematic uncertainties of your measurement will decrease.

At this moment, what you have obtained so far is enough to get preliminary labels, but it is necessary to understand discrepancies between your and published results to finish working on purity/momentum smearing correction and the fitting range.

I guess we will have more discussion next week.

Thanks,
Hanna
