Dear Xiaoyu, PAs,

Thanks for sending the documents. In general it is in a very good shape. I have a few comments/suggestions for you to consider.

General comment on manuscript:
You could add line numbers, so it is easy to comment on texts.

1. In the abstract, you have motivated that these results can provide insight into baryon stopping. But in the main text and summary, you didn't discuss its implications or how our data can be useful. It would be good have an elaborate discussion somewhere in the draft.

2. It is pointed out in [1501.04468, Eur.Phys.J. C75 (2015) no.9, 406] that v1 in forward rapidity could be sensitive to shear viscosity to entropy and tilt-angle. I would suggest to include as another motivation.

3. You have used TPC EP as a reference in your v1 calculation. Is it possible to use EPD east as EP and then calculate v1 in EPD west, and vice versa?

Comments on manuscript text:
Section-B:
"RHIC run18 in 2018." --> RHIC runs during 2018
"Centrality classes in this data ...." -> You could mention comparison with Glauber MC and add a reference
Section III-A
"the “three sub-event method”:" --> add a reference
"TPC event plane resolution ends up between 0.02 and 0.08" --> Do you have a resolution plot? Would be good to include in the draft. Is this resolution number in absolute or percentage? Are their any uncertainty on resolution, e.g. varying eta-gaps?

Section III-B
ADC,MPV are jargons, you may explain ADC, MPV etc here for general audience.
"points along η simply by taking the average of the 16 v1 values and 16 η values" --> Is the spread considered as syst errors?

Section III-C:
"with the material in the detector" --> I guess material and support structures
"GEANT4[6][7], limiting fragmentation[10][11]" --> Please correct the style of referencing

Section III-D:
Discussions on systematic uncertainties could be improved. You could either add a table or list the sources of systematic errors and their typical magnitude etc.

Cosmetic suggestion:
Could you improve the quality of figures, I mean you could enlarge them and make the legends etc larger. For some figures, there are lines around it (e.g. Fig. 7, 10), please fix it.

Comments on Analysis Note:
"Correction for the STAR material budget" --> If you are using an official star embedding, please include production name details etc. here in the AN.
Systematic errors: You could either add a table or list the sources of systematic errors and their typical magnitude etc.

Comments on Code:
Could you also make a copy at RCF and send us the path. Eventually, it need to be in CVS.

To answer the only question raised in the PWGC preview:
Slide 7
Q. How good is TPC Psi1 resolution?
A. Something like ~0.1 but need to check

The resolution plots can be found on page 20 of the analysis note. In
summary, after all the weighting and shifting, the TPC event plane
resolution ends up between 0.02 and 0.08, peaking around the
centrality of 20 ∼ 30%.
