Dear star-fcv-l AT lists.bnl.gov members,

Prithwish Tribedy ( ptribedy AT bnl.gov ) has commented on a material originally

submitted by Yufu Lin ( yufulin AT mails.ccnu.edu.cn ) at

Comment:
Very nice abstract!! I have a few minor revisions for your consideration
which I think would make the abstract more concise and appealing.

I suggest we modify the title:

"Background Control and Upper Limit on the Chiral Magnetic Effect in
Isobar Collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 200 GeV from STAR"
-->
"Post-blind analysis of the Isobar Collisions and Background-controlled Upper

Limit on the Chiral Magnetic Effect from STAR"

"STAR" --> "The STAR Collaboration"

"the isobar (96$^{44}$Ru+96$^{44}$Ru, 96$^{40}$Zr+96$^{40}$Zr) results from a

blind analysis" -->
"results from a blind analysis of isobar collisions
(96$^{44}Ru+96^{44}Ru,96^{40}Zr+96^{40}$Zr) at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV$"

"Significant differences between the two isobar systems have been observed in

multiplicity ($N$) and elliptic anisotropy ($v_2$) [1]."
-->
"Significant differences were observed in the measured multiplicity (N) and
elliptic anisotropy (v2) between the two isobar systems."

"The isobar ratio (Ru/Zr) of the CME-sensitive observable $\Delta\gamma$
scaled by $v_2$ is close to but systematically larger than the inverse
multiplicity ratio, suggesting major background contamination and possible
CME signal [2]."

-->

"The isobar ratio (Ru/Zr) of CME-sensitive observable, $v_2$ scaled charge
separation ($\Delta\gamma/v_2$) is close to but systematically larger than
the inverse multiplicity ($1/N$) ratio. This indicates the potential
existence of a CME signal, as well as the presence of remaining background
that is different between the isobars [2]."

"In this talk, we present two analyses further addressing the backgrounds."
-->

"In this contribution, we present two post-blind analyses of the isobar data
that address the remaining backgrounds and attempt to extract any possible
CME signal."

line 9:
"then compares CME observables"
-->
"then compares the CME-sensitive observables"

"(Δγ correlator, signed balance functions [3])"
-->
"(the Δγ correlator and signed balance functions [3])"

After the line ending "....as HIJING simulation" and before "The overall
contribution..." add the following sentence:

"This allows the estimation of a modified background baseline for the
$\Delta\gamma/v_2$ ratio."

"The overall contribution is found to be positive"
-->
"The overall contribution of non-flow is found to be positive"

"An upper limit is extracted on the CME in isobar collisions at √snn = 200
GeV."
-->
"An upper limit on the CME sginal in isobar collisions is extracted."
