Dear star-fcv-l AT lists.bnl.gov members,

Prithwish Tribedy ( ptribedy AT bnl.gov ) has commented on a material originally

submitted by Han-Sheng Li ( li3924 AT purdue.edu ) at
https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/presentations/Quark-Matter-2023/Search-Chiral-Magnetic-Effect-Event-Shape-Engineering-Function-Invar

Comment:
Second round of comments with attempt to incorporate the comments from CME
focus group experts:
I suggest we revise line 11-16 as follows:
"In this contribution, we report a fresh investigation of charge separation
in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=200$ GeV=200 GeV with the
STAR detector using the Event Shape Engineering (ESE) approach [1]. Our
approach has several novel aspects, such as using three subevents of the time

projection chamber (TPC) to identify dynamical fluctuations of $v_2$ by
excluding particles of interest from the ESE selection. Since the chiral
magnetic effect (CME) is a low-pT phenomenon, we further analyze ESE
differentially as a function of the pair invariant mass ($m_{inv}$),
particularly at lower $m_{inv}$, which is dominated by a larger fraction of
low-$p_T$ pions."
