Hi CWR,
How can we understand the differences in the raw rho_00 between yours and from the published results? For background, I dont see a reason for it contribute differently in the two approaches, as both are utilizing correlations relative to the EP of the candidates, and S/B ratio also enters the calculations in the same way. At 200 GeV also there is sizeable difference, even though the statistical uncertainties are better. From S18 I see that the results are quite sensitive to the signal and background fitting. Which method are these results from? Do you have similar slide for the other method with similar variation of fitting functions?

thanks
Sooraj

      Hello Diyu and Xu,

Thanks to Diyu for pointing out a problem. It was indeed an error in my code. It was newly introduced when I changed from our previous fit assuming 1/3 for background. I forgot to convert the fit <cos^2> to rho00^obs.

There was also an issue in the systematic uncertainty calculation. I had three variations for fit functions and three variations for fit ranges. I added all three variations in quadrature without taking the rms. This is now corrected.

The new plot is on s9 of the pdf.

I'm also including a comparison plot of the raw data on s14. Thanks to Xu for sending your raw data. I assume your raw data are not corrected for EP resolution, so I'm also plotting our raw data before EP resolution correction. The two raw data results (open black vs. open red) do not seem to agree. I've also appended a few slides from our very early studies using the yield method. We found the results were very sensitive to how the background was modeled.

Thank you,
-CW

Hi Fuqiang,

Please find the raw rho00 vs. energy in the following link:
https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url="https%3A%2F%2Fdrupal.star.bnl.gov%2FSTAR%2Fblog%2Fsunxuhit%2FRaw-rho00-phi-meson-11-200-GeV&data=05%7C01%7Crober558%40purdue.edu%7C3431b1b6dfe2409614bb08dba123ba9f%7C4130bd397c53419cb1e58758d6d63f21%7C0%7C0%7C638280947091144402%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=2SarMmhV3WMbkIa8JJ8YD%2BTndRG4fxjpCV0J%2FKWUFNs%3D&reserved=0

The number could also be found below:
11GeV: rhoDef = 0.35033 +/- 0.00834608
19GeV: rhoDef = 0.345301 +/- 0.00353585
27GeVRun18: rhoDef = 0.346832 +/- 0.00116909
39GeV: rhoDef = 0.336374 +/- 0.00147845
62GeV: rhoDef = 0.342335 +/- 0.00196637
200GeVRun14: rhoDef = 0.334078 +/- 0.00050915

Please NOTE:

1. the zig-zag feature is already very significant in the raw rho00 plot.
2. The rho00 at 27 GeV your group presented in FCV meeting is significantly lower than our raw rho00. Before talking about anything else, it's crucial to address the fundamental question of why your group's implementation of the invMass method yields a result so divergent from the one obtained using the conventional method, particularly at the raw rho00 level. This question is especially pertinent when considering that in all v2 analyses, the two methods consistently produce same results.

Best,

Xu for the PAs
