Dear Huan,

I got the average intercept and statistics error from a constant fit. For the systematic error, I have many systematic variations of the two points and apply constant fits on those variations. Based on Barlow description I got the systematic error for the constant fit.

Best regards,
Han-Sheng

Hi Huan,

Yes, the q2 is from all charged hadrons within |eta|<0.3. The POIs are from outside regions |eta|>0.3.

In the ESE analysis the Ks region shouldn’t be anything special from other regions. So I wouldn’t particularly mention Ks region. There may be generic issues with inv. mass method. We will definitely look into it.

I think it was an average obtained from a constant fit to the low (high) mass points. Han-sheng, can you answer how you get the average intercept and error?

Best regards,
Fuqiang

Fuqiang,

I assume that when you do the ESE you used all particles in the event without the invariant mass selection. If the invariant mass is correlated with v2-background, it is possible that some region of invariant mass the background is higher and some region becomes lower so that the overall event background is balanced. Ks is a very good handle: very narrow and prominent in your inv mass distribution and the region has the largest correlation signal. It does not bother me if you does not want to mention Ks, and I trust that you will study this.

I asked Han-Sheng for the numbers of the low mass two points because it is not clear how the combined data number was obtained from the numbers in the figure for the errors. It could just be visual mis-perception of reading the error bars on the figure. But it will be good to check out the numbers.

  Regards,

  Huan

Hi Huan,

The idea of ESE is to remove those flow-induced background, including Ks. So I wouldn’t include a statement like “Ks effects” in the summary. The intercepts from the Ks region and from the lower mass region are consistent within statistical uncertainties, so I wouldn’t read into the numbers too much right now. We will certainly do further studies.

Best regards,

Fuqiang

Han-Sheng,

Could you send the actual numbers including both the statistical and systematic errors from your intercept figure on Zhiwan’s slide 9? I am looking at the sizes of the error bars and the numbers listed in the figure, it will be good to understand how you obtained the numbers.

As I have indicated to Fuqiang, it will be good to study the potential effect of Ks as well since the Ks region has the largest number. Therefore, it will be good to mention both residual nonflow and Ks effects in the summary.

  Thanks. Regards,

  Huan

Hi Zhiwan,

The new plot on the summary slide looks good to me.

Thanks for organizing the nice slides.

Best regards,

Han-Sheng

Hi Fuqiang and FCV conveners,
Thank you for the comments. I have included the high-mass point in the middle Psi_2 plots.

Hi Zhiwan,

I think Han-sheng is making his plot as he just realized that you’re waiting on his plot. But actually your plot looks good to me so we should just use your plot. Could you also quickly include the high mass point? Han-sheng should double check the plot but all is good to me.

Best regards,
Fuqiang
