Hello Sergei,

Thank you for presenting the simulation results of the efficiency as a function of phi_Psi. The variation is indeed rather small. What is the kaon tracking/PID efficiency you used? (I tried to find it in your previous presentation but could not... probably it was presented much earlier.)
Please see slides 45 and 46 to see the TPC tracking and ToF Matching efficiency for Kaons.

The distribution I asked previously (the first one in your list in slide 17) is the _inclusive_ distribution of phi*-phi. This is the experimental distribution directly depending on the reconstruction efficiency. I wonder how this distribution compares to that from simulations?
I understand that this distribution can be different for real phi-mesons and background (I see it clearly when plotting moments of this distribution vs invariant mass, which for you might be difficult to do), but even combining everything together - how do they compare?
Could you clarify your meaning of “inclusive” in your question? I have been working on grabbing the efficiency x acceptance vs. cos(2phi*-2phi) for both raw data and simulation and I hope to show them soon.

Best,
Gavin

During today's meeting I also suggested to run the analysis using a random event plane. The idea of that check is to see if the signal  observed is indeed due to the elliptic flow, or if it comes from effects in the longitudinal direction. Similarly, one can use the "phi*" approach, as if the signal indeed is due to the spin alignment along the axis perpendicular to the event plane, two methods should lead to the same answer. For the paper only one, the "default", analysis/results can be used, but I think it is important to check different approaches for consistency of the results.

best regards,
Sergei
