Hi Yi,

Yes that is including the wrapping and thermocouple cables that have to be left on place around beampipe. It also includes the clearance we need to make the mechanism of discs sliding around the beampipe work.

Dear Elke,

Gerard just mentioned to me that I misread the drawing.

The radius of the beryllium tube is 1.5 inches (3.810 cm).

Zhenyu and I remember that Rahul mentioned the radius of the beam pipe is about 5 cm, so I believe this number included all the wrapping stuff I mentioned.

To simplify my question to Rahul: is it okay if the inner radius of the silicon tracker is 4.75 cm (1.87 inches)?

Cheers,

Yi

Dear Yi,

are you thinking about the bake out blankets? If yes they need to get removed before you would be able to install the Silicon detector, also they seem to be thicker then 0.1 cm.

Rahul any idea what Yi is referring to.

cheers elke

Dear Bill & Rahul,

Elke kindly forwarded a beam pipe drawing which is going to use in the forward upgrade.

The radius of the beam pipe is 4.625 cm.

However, we remember Rahul mentioned that the beam pipe is also wrapped by something, so we are wondering if it is okay if the inner radius of silicon track is 4.75 mm.

Could you please confirm it? Thanks a lot.

Cheers,

Yi

Dear Yi,

sorry I wanted to sent this already earlier. Here is the technical drawing from John Scheblein of the STAR original beam pipe we use now and will use for the forward upgrade.

Dear Elke & Zhenyu,

I am wondering if you have chance to get the information of the radius of the beam pipe from Rahul?

I think the dimensions of sensor and hybrid are almost fixed, so the only dimension is missing is the radius of the beam pipe.

Thanks a lot.

Cheers,

Yi
