Minutes
Attendees: Daniel, Flemming, Jianing, Krishan, Prithwish, Te-Chuan, Xu, Yi,
Yu, Zhangbu, Zhenyu
*** Mechanical structure - Yi
1. The first two structures sent from NCKU to UIC last Monday
1) have not arrived at UIC. May try a different carrier than post office next
time
2) the cross structure of the 2nd prototype structure was machined down at
AIDC after hybrid gluing. It was done so that it is at the same “level” as
the 1st prototype, so that it won’t interfere with the module assembly
fixture at Fermilab
3) <0.3% shrinkage after cooling down with structures made of PEEK+CF and ~1%
for pure PEEK. The dimensions of the first two prototype structures, which
are made of pure PEEK, may differ by 1% to the drawings.
2. EASTON is working on making new prototypes with changes and possible
improvements on surface flatness:
1) slow down the cooling process after injection from 1 min to 5-10 min.
2) try both pure PEEK and PEEK+CF
3) put back the removed area to the center of the outer part
4) EASTON will measure the surface flatness and NCKU will measure at NTU in
March 5-13
3. Test stand for compatibility of soft tube and NOVEC
1) it is set up. Will start it and give reports with detailed description of
the test stand next time
*** Tracking study - Krishan
Slide 2: questions on the meaning of “Duration”, cause of the peak at pT~0
for charge mis-identification, or whether or not PV was used in tracking were
asked. Krishan will try to find the answers to these questions
*** Fast simulator - Te-Chuan
1. the FST fast simulator needs a couple of minor changes, as described in
the slides. Daniel has separate FST and sTGC fast simulators but they are not
put in DEV. Will implemented the changes suggested by Te-Chuan to FST
simulator.
2. check the gap at r~16.5 cm to check and understand where it comes from,
and structure around 17cm to check if they correspond to secondary particles
produced from scattering in the cooling tubes
