0. follow-ups on the action items from last week (see *** below)
1) Design light-tight box for the DAQ integration test at BNL - Rahul/Flemming
-> No update
2) Discuss how to mount modules onto the half-rings, and half-rings onto
support structure - Rahul/Yi
-> Rahul: provided a few recommendations, e.g., use two pressed-fit pins,
open holes for the other, changes to the PEEK
-> Yi: discussed with EASTON, had sent a couple of emails to Rahul, will
document the proposed changes
3) Document the procedure and requirements of the module production steps
that NCKU is responsible for - Yi
4) Look into radiation tolerance test of soft cooling tubes - Yi
-> See below
5) Tune the timing setting for ADC sampling - Xu/Gerard
-> tuning the timing does not change anything
6) Studying the tracking performance by varying the Z-locations of FST disks,
and number of r/phi segments - Daniel/Krishan
-> Krishan: discussed with Daniel, Daniel said he finished the R-segment, and
will send the updated code to Krishan
7) Looking into FST simulation and track reconstruction to compare 300 vs 500
micron thick sensors - Shenghui/Zhenyu
-> Shenghui: has not fixed the issue of primary particle selection
-> Zhenyu: no reply from Jason
8) FST slow simulator with efficiency/resolution measured with prototypes and
study tracking performance - Gavin/Shenghui/Xu
-> See below
1. Integration by Rahul Sharma, Felix Archampong
-> no major update, Felix working on detailing design
-> will check with Bill Struble about ordering the missing piece for cooling
system
2. Tracking Studies by
Daniel Brandenburg, Krishan Gopal
3. Simulation Studies by
Shenghui Zhang
4. Prototype Module Assembly and Test by Xu Sun, Gavin
Wilks, Zhenyu Ye
-> Zhenyu: FST03 being assembled at Fermilab, expected to finish sensor
wire-bonding Tuesday. Two issues reported: 1) outer/inner chip off by 200/500
microns towards sensor 2) wire-bonding on some pads on hybrid
-> Gavin: analyze data with rotated FST01 wrt IST, which gave better
projection precision along FST-R.
-> Xu: residual and efficiency can be qualitatively reproduced by toy MC
simulation. Will introduce cross-talk to re-produce the residual distribution.
5. Mechanical structure by Yi
Yang
-> 30%-40% good rate (based on surface flatness) of PEEK structure. FST04 is
a good one, FST05 is an OK one. Will send FST04 with hybrids to US this week
-> 200/500 micron chip placement shift on FST03 due to usage of threaded
guide pin? Will replace threaded holes by bushings and pressed-fit precision
pins
-> wire-bonding issue: will change the hybrid-PEEK glue pattern
-> Compatibility test results before/after irradiation for cooling soft
tubes. Don't see obvious issue but results are not consistent with the
vendor. Will contact the vendor.
