Inner signal cables/T-board - Mike
1. received 8 T-boards from SDU. Will have the cables assembled with the
boards next week.
Mechanical structure - Yi
1. burst pressure measured for two soft tube candidates before and after
irradiation. Both would meet our requirement . Will summarize the results and
send to CAD safety committee to address their remaining comment
2. cooling tube hose: the hose that Yi used for cooling tube in the module is
based on a connector that was recommended by a company to make fast/easy
connections between tubes. Rahul will take a look at it and make
recommendations. Yi will also send a few tubes (with hoses welded to the end)
to Rahul.
3. Mechanical structure and hybrids assembly going smoothly. Sent 5 to UIC (1
received, 4 on the way) for initial evaluation, with two of them ranked B or
C (good for production). Changed the flatness measurement positions on the MS
from the new definition to the old one (used for prototype) for these modules
to meet the requirement.
-> Yi will provide measurement results of the new definition.
Production module assembly - Zhenyu
1. storage boxes: two received on 12/1 and verified by Fermilab technicians
on 12/3. Requested company to move the position of the module inside the box
by 10mm to give room for cooling tubes and allow for tolerance of cooling
tube bending. Expect to receive two modified boxes this week. After that, 12
boxes per week
2. assembly tooling: one used for prototype module assembly has been modified
to accommodate the changes we made to the mechanical structure. It was
verified on 12/3 that the tooling fits with the new mechanical structure
(FST009) sent by Yi. Two new sets of tooling are being fabricated at UIC
machine shop, with delay due to reduced manpower and temporary closing of the
shop due to one positive COVID19 case.
3. module assembly: two step procedure - readout chips, sensors. Ready to
start mounting chips from a technical point of view (waiting for BNL to
process the contract extension with Fermilab). Even with one tooling we have
in hand, we should be able to finish one module per day, so that we can
finish all 48 by the end of February when sensors arrive. Assuming the new
sets of tooling will be available at the time when we start mounting sensors,
we should be able to finish one module per day for sensor mounting as well.
Integration test - Xu
1. DAQ integration test completed. Slow Control "50%" done. Online monitoring
on the way.
2. Cooling integration test planned for this week, pending on getting a
thermal camera to measure the temperature. The flow rate is set to 9.2 l/m as
IST with 12 loops, and will reduce to 50% because only 6 loops are currently
connected, and vary the flow between 50%-25% to see how it affects the
temperature of the module.
3. Will contact relevant experts to check the noise at high readout rate with
random triggers - Gerard/Xu
