Dear Elke,
Unfortunately we did not install any temp sensor for this.
On Dec 27, Ziyue, Te-Chuan and I turned on FST, took a few pedestal runs, then we disconnected the purple cables and cooling lines from manifolds. From Dec 28 to Dec 29 morning Rahul, Bob Soja, and Bill pulled FST from the TPC cone, separated FST into
two halves and put them near the pole-tip on the new wide plate.
By the time we had to leave BNL for our return flight on Dec 29 afternoon, the abovementioned work was completed but the thermal blanket for beam-pipe bake-out was not installed yet, so I did not have a chance to see how it looks like, but my understanding
from talking to Rahul (Rahul, please correct me if I am wrong) is that the vacuum group will put the blanket on the inner part of the beam pipe with FST in the farthest position (close to pole-tip). After that, they will bake the part of beam pipe near pole-tip
with FST close to TPC (still outside the TPC cone).
I rely on Rahul’s judgement on the safety of FST and my impression is the FST would be in a safe situation from talking to him. It will be nice if someone local can double check it during the next couple of weeks when the bake-out takes place.
Best,
Zhenyu

Dear Rahul and Zhenyu,_______________________________________________
I was wondering we have installed temperature sensors or have temperature sensors in locations, so we can monitor the temperature of the Si during the backe-out.I think this is an absolute must and we cannot start takeout before this is not done.
