Sounds good, I’ll head up to 1006 now.
Swapping the module out shouldn’t be a problem, though I may need help with configuring it.
There are 2 potential problems:
1. The MAC address may not be registered
This isn’t a major problem, we just will not be able to access the device until it is whitelisted by Wayne or Mike
2. The device may not be configured
I’m sure some setup is needed for the device, but am totally unfamiliar with it
Additionally, Advantech’s website is partially blocked at BNL
If setup software is needed I would need to download it at home before coming back to BNL
Not a show stopper, but it may induce some delays

Currently, FST is off and cooling is not running. The emergency stop button is pressed down.
So, there is no problem for you to do any thing with it.

Would it be alright if I replaced the module sometime this morning?
I expect it would take about an hour total, from shutdown to restart.
This morning, Ziyue and I were digging something else in the FST cabinet.
And, we accidentally found 3 serial to Ethernet converters. One labeled it is broken, but the other 2 in the boxes seem good.
I put them in the right side of the 3rd row in the FST cabinet (see the attached pictures).
I don’t think there is any interlock bypass is applied at the moment.
But, just to be save, I will shut down the cooling later today.
I don't think there is any risk of damage.
The cooler interlock is only enabled if the temperature/humidity readings from the controller are ok.
None of those paths run through the affected ethernet converter.
You don't have detailed monitoring of the controller, and cannot change the settings remotely, but it still works (as I understand it).
Just to be sure: Has anyone applied any sort of interlock bypass?
If so we should shut down and not run until the bypass is removed and ethernet converter replaced.
The FST power is supposed to be interlocked to the cooling system, as it was for the IST. But, I don't really know if it actually is or not, that part wasn't my responsibility.
It's a bit late to make such a change but if there is an actual risk of damaging something if the frontend is powered when the cooling is off, then it ought to be interlocked.
I also don't know how real the risk of this is, and I suspect it's not too real a risk.
Please let me know when is the replacement available and when are you planning to install it.
I am now keep the cooling system running just in case there is someone turn on the FST accidentally.
I will need to shutdown the cooling system before doing anything on it.
I thought it was odd that the spare would be powered.
The device Tim mentioned is probably a Moxa N5100A or N5150; we used something similar for the STGC gas system not long ago.
The are available and not too expensive, so we should have an alternate soon.
I found some documents for IST cooling system in the FST cabinet.
Indeed, It shows we have 2 converters but one is used for TC-48-20 and one for HX86PA.
They are both in use, so we can not just simply swap the cables.
We do need to find a replacement for it.
FST cooling is currently running fine. Just some temperature values are not monitored (alarms for shift crews may not work properly), so need extra eyes on it.
I’m thinking that there are 2 set of TC-48 modules, OMEGA units and so on in the rack.
But, we actually only need one set of them.
Is it possible that we swap the cables and make the current TC-48 module in use work?
I’m probably wrong, so please correct me.

It looks like the RS-232/485 to Ethernet converter is dead.
Additionally, the controller has been discontinued by the manufacturer (note: site may not work properly on BNL networks):
Tim knows of a replacement part that should work as a replacement.
He will order it if we don't have one on hand.
I'm not sure of the configuration of the failed converter, or even if it needed to be configured, so there may be some software work needed to get the replacement running.
Will we be able to run the FST if the alternate unit needs to be ordered?
