Hi, software coordinators

This is a reminder to make sure we get things initialized appropriately for the upcoming Run 24, which has taken notably longer to get a firm start date than we might have expected. Unless anyone sees a need to change, however, we should continue to use the previously designated (see original email below) database and geometry dates (timestamps) announced a few months ago. I haven't yet thought of a reason the multi-month gap between initialization and actual Run start would be problematic, but if you think of a reason, please speak up.

Thanks,
-Gene

Hello, software coordinators

We have a few things to prepare for Run 24, and there's no harm in getting an early start....

1) Geometry
A first cut of the y2024 geometry has already gone through github review and will be included in DEV tonight. I understand it to be a straight copy of y2023, so if there are changes from the y2023 geometry, please contact Jason Webb.

2) Database initialization
We initialize the timeline each year, enabling us to use relevant portions of the entire offline database when critical. For the coming Run we propose:
- Geometry tag has a timestamp of 20231210
- Simulation timeline [20231210, 20231215]
- DB initialization for real data [20231220,...]

Please initialize your table content appropriately, i.e. initial values for simulation are entered with timestamps between 20231210 and up to (but not including - stay away from the edge) 20231215. If you're uncertain about how to do this, please contact Dmitry Arkhipkin and me (Gene Van Buren).

3) QA
Please contact Jeff Landgraf for any modifications/additions to Online QA, and myself (Gene Van Buren) for any to Offline QA. We probably won't be setting up the FastOffline reconstruction chain for Offline QA for a few months still, but input is welcome.

4) Calibration contacts
Generally, the subsystem software coordinators have served as the point of contact on calibrations for a subsystem, but if any of you have someone else you would prefer be the point of contact on calibrations, please let Frank Geurts and me (Gene Van Buren) know.

Thanks for your attention,
-Gene
