Dear All,

As a short report for today. We went to STAR this afternoon, and with the help of Tim we identified the problem is really from the OMEGA EIT-D (Serial to Ethernet/Internet module). Tim has removed the broken module and will help us reinstall a newer one once it is delivered. (for more details of the problem, please see the history below this email)
We have turned off the power of the FST Cooling Rack. Please don't turn it on before the newer OMEGA EIT-D module is reinstalled.

Dear All,

Just to keep everyone on the same page. 

We went to STAR today, and power cycled the FST cooling rack. We still see the same problem: everything seems running well (from the cooling rack panel), but a couple of PVs are missing (shown 0) from the FST GUI. The 130.199.61.24 address has no response, while the 130.199.61.23 shows us the configure page correctly. 

Two possible problems: 1) the ethernet cable or switch is not working; 2) the network module is not working. We will go to STAR tomorrow with Tim, and switch the net cables to see which one is the real problem.

Then if the problem is the network module (Omega EIT-D), we will first check if it is because it is configured to the default setup, so the IP we set is not working anymore. Then, if none of this works, we will order a new one. 

I will post what we found after tomorrow's investigation.

Thank you for your help.

I checked that the cooling connections for the 3 sets of patch panel boards were secure. I was informed at the end of February that the MCW was running through them. I saw no leaks. 

Also, at this point we can no longer visually inspect connections on the west TPC face since the west pole tip is closed.

I remember I could reset the system by our own (in-person, manual page 12), I will give it a try. 

For power-cycle the crate, I need some help from our STAR engineers. 

Another thing, do you know if the cooling for the patch panels are connected and running? One loop was not connected at the beginning of the last years run, and crated a lot of problems last time. We certainly want to double check this year. 

Will post the details to this list and a summary to the ops mail.

Hello Yu,

Yes, the FST cooling is off now. I have not checked anything new regarding the communication problem. 

If you have time, it would be great if you could try power-cycling the crate and resetting the interlock.
