The fwd detector version of MB /TOF4 are decoupled from the same triggers without fwd detectors. I don't think there is any immediate need to go to 3 timebins.

That screenshot looks more reasonable than I have managed to find on online plot pdf's. As mentioned, 25121031 seems to be gone astray in run log browser / plots.
I think it would be better to have a bit more statistics than shown in your attachment. But it's not crazy at least.
We don't get a real good view with 3 tb, of course, which is why you wanted the 9 tb for commissioning.
Is there a reason why it is important to switch back today? Anyway regardless of the answer, if FST has a clear decision on this I'll go ahead at next opportunity.
Jeff I hope you can still comment on if FireIfLive would be doable or why not? Maybe I'm missing something there.

Hello Gerard,
Are you looking at a different run?
Please check out the screen attached for 25121031.
I agree with Gavin that this should be enough to tell. Besides we'll monitor the distribution after switching back to 3tb so I think it should be fine. However we'd like to hear your take on this, as well as other experts.
Best,
Ziyue

Hi Gavin,(Adding fst list... this should be on list I think)I don't see plots at all for 25121031, something's wrong. But I haven't seen any other runs plots show more than a tiny dribble of statistics in FST. [But I haven't checked all runs, naturally.]
I think it would be rather unwise to switch out of 9 timebin without having at least one run with reasonable hit statistics in FST. What's the motivation to switch to 3 today?
I just talked to SL and there should be an opportunity coming up. I ask for clarification here if the FST group really thinks it should be switched back now/asap or if we should do it tomorrow.
Sincerely,Gerard

Subject: Re: [Star-ops-l] FST Time Bin Switch (for Latency Adjustment)Hello Gerard,
I looked at run 25121031 and the APV tb plots appeared to all be centered at the central tb. However, you are correct that the statistics could be better. We could wait for higher statistics, but I am unsure when we will have higher FST rates.
Ziyue plans to do another set of shifts once we swap back to 3 tb as well.

hi Gavin,Which is the good reference run from FST 9 tb operation? I've been looking up some runs in shiftlog but haven't yet found one that shows FST really working well and with reasonable statistics on the plots, in 9 tb mode. I presume you have seen such a run though or you wouldn't yet be planning to switch back to 3 tb. Please clarify, thanks,
Gerard

I think the plan is to have beam fill around 2-3pm. So that time should work.We can wait until we have a stable fill for less uncertainty as you said.

Hi Gavin,Off the list at least for the moment. When do they plan to inject? I see this probably could have been accomplished atarting shortly after 10 but not sure about right now. I have an 11AM meeting for another project anyway, although if this was just the right time I could probably skip it I am not presenting. We can also (maybe better because of less uncertainty) do this after a fill is established, just leaving FST out of runs, If that's reasonable I suggest we plan for 2:00 today?

Subject: Re: [Star-ops-l] FST Time Bin Switch (for Latency Adjustment)Dear Gerard, Tonko, Jeff and on duty shift crews,
We would like to switch from 9 to 3 time bin mode on the FST for final commissioning with your help.
The procedure goes as follows:
1. Download 3-tb firmware -> by Gerard
2. Change the dead time accordingly, TCD fixed busy in the run control GUI -> by Tonko/Jeff
3. Change the Online plots -> by Jeff (and maybe the FST expert)
4. Power cycle the FST -> The FST expert will inform the shift crew in the 24hr zoom
5. Change FST config files -> by the FST expert
6. Take a pedestal run -> by the FST expert
7. Wait until the beam comes, then check the latency with 3tb. -> by the Expert
We shall coordinate under this thread.
Gerard, could we coordinate on point 1 at your earliest convenience? I will turn the FST crates on for you through the expert GUI.
Best,
Gavin
