Hi Youqi,

About to take off for Houston, so sorry for brevity. My thought: you say Herwig’s mechanism is better but we see a large difference can be caused just by tunes (or possibly versions I guess), from the Pythia results. So once Herwig and Pythia are on a “tuned to RHIC” footing together that contribution is isolated. It’s possible the tuning wouldn’t move the results here much since they already agree with STAR data fairly well, but in a tune including many other results (similar to Detroit tune paper) it could be the case that they move slightly in the other direction. So no my statement wasn’t that Herwig is bad so we should make it better; more a statement that it’d be nice to stop having to compare an explicitly LHC tune to STAR data to try to make a conclusion about the different QCD mechanisms.

Sorry for the spam, but just to double check I understand what is specifically motivating the tuning of HERWIG here. I understand it is good to have a HERWIG RHIC tune in general just as we do for PYTHIA, but is it that since HERWIG predicts r_c the best, it would be more worthwhile to tune HERWIG? I would naively think tuning would be more necessary in the case when HERWIG prediction is more off. What am I missing here?
