Hi Yi,

Since no correction is done on the random track points, the only systematic uncertainty relevant would be from the hadronic correction. I have checked that by varying the hadronic correction in data from 1 to 0.5, the r_c value for each pT bin only varies within the statistical uncertainty.

Best,
Youqi

Hi Youqi,

Thanks a lot for the new preliminary request. It is very clear now.
I only have one follow-up question regarding the new random track data points, don't they systematic uncertainty? I would naivally think that they should have the same (or similar) systematics as the corrected data. If so, it would be good to plot them.

Cheers,
Yi

Hi Yi and all,

Thanks for the suggestion! I have made a new set of slides "pwg_meeting_082223_summary.pdf" and uploaded them to the drupal page: https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/blog/youqi/Preliminary-Request-Measurement-Charge-Correlator-Ratio. Additionally, I would also like to request preliminary points to the random tracks data points (the dashed lines in the preliminary figure). These points were previously shown in the black points in slide 25 of https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/system/files/prelim_request_082223.pdf and in slide 3 of https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/system/files/pwg_meeting_081723.pdf. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Thank you!

(For convenience, here is my poster draft link again: https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/node/64818).

Best,
Youqi

Hi Youqi,

Thanks a lot for the updated page.
I would suggest:
  1. make a new preliminary request with all latest plots and results (the left plot in p5 won't mean much in the future, to me).
  2. put the plot with the "preliminary" label on p.7 of your request, so when people read your request they will know which one is the preliminary.

Cheers,
Yi

Hi all,

Now that my figure has been approved, I added the "STAR preliminary" label on it. Here's the link: https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/blog/youqi/Preliminary-Request-Measurement-Charge-Correlator-Ratio

Hi Nihar, all,

I didn't do any unfolding using a 2D response matrix. The reweighting procedure essentially does the same thing, since the matching between Pythia and Pythia+Geant also encodes the information about the pT distribution of the truth given a reconstructed pT range. Please see slide 2 of my new slides for more details on how this is done.

I am also now using a different formula to find the statistical uncertainty of weighted distributions, which results in a slight decrease in the statistical uncertainty for the measurement. However, there is no change in the central values. The details of this are also in the slides.

The last slide has the figure that I would like to put the preliminary stamp on, with statistical and systematic uncertainties included.

Youqi

Hello Youqi,

Sorry, I could not concentrate on your presentation yesterday, for me it
was too late.

I went through your presentation today.
Could you answer the following questions from your your slide?

SLide6-7:
you try to correct  reco-pT to true pT correction based on JES.
On slide-7 lower right plot, "data after mistagged subtraction and pT
correction" are plotted on the same binning "data after mistagged
subtraction". I was expecting it will only change your x-axis for
pT-correction. What am I missing here?

And also it is not clear how do you perform this correction. Could you
give a try to explain me?

General comment:
Not sure, if you are correcting your rc vs. jet pT results using
unfolding by creating 2D response matrix using.
For example, Pythia and Pythia+Geant simulation.
Or have you  tried that way?

Cheers
Nihar
