Hello Nihar,

Thank you for your comments on my slides.
I have updated the slides to reflect your comments as well as Yi's follow-up comments.
Version 3 can be found here : https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/system/files/HardProbes2024_BaryonToMesonInJet_v3.pdf
Please find detailed responses to your comments below. I will send a response to Yi's comments momentarily.

Thanks again,

Gabe

General comment:
Your HP2023 results were based on pT_const > 3 GeV/c
(
https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url="https%3A%2F%2Fdrupal.star.bnl.gov%2FSTAR%2Ffiles%2FHP2023_GDG_final_v9.pdf&data=05%7C02%7Cgdaleg2%40groute.uic.edu%7Cbee8d4a6a1be45cbae1108dcd8711902%7Ce202cd477a564baa99e3e3b71a7c77dd%7C0%7C0%7C638623227481478576%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=1cAIWC5niIIDGyLXB9rmxxD5%2BnmUin3MIfa3%2FFM%2BCtQ%3D&reserved=0)
, but now you are going to show pT_const > 2 GeV/c.
That is Ok, but we need to discuss in one slide what we have shown
during HP2023 and what is new in this measurement?
Otherwise, it creates confusion. So make one slide and discuss this with
new approaches to mitigate combinatorial background.

We discussed this in the PWG meeting today. I added a slide in backup (slide 33) comparing against the old result, in case a question arises, but I will not explicitly mention in the presentation.

Slide2,3,4: We measure p/𝛑 in jets using jet-track correlations -> We

measure p/𝛑 in jets using jet+hadron (track) correlations

Done. I will clarify verbally that we are analysing charged tracks only so that the language of "jet-track" communicates later in the presentation.

Slide6,7: Please mention what eta range you have used?

Added Jet Eta cut on slide 7, and track Eta cut on slide 8

Slide8: Select regions of equal area for jet and underlying event ->
Please mention the kinematic rage

I am unsure what you mean by this. The kinematic range of background subtraction directly matches the range for each bin in the results. So for the 2.0 -> 2.2 GeV/c bin in the results, background subtraction is performed using tracks with 2.0 -> 2.2 GeV/c. This holds true for every bin in the result. I believe listing every bin here would be confusing. Changed to “Select regions of equal area for jet and underlying event for every pT bin from 2.0 GeV/c to 5.0 GeV/c” for now.

Slide9: Subtract UE from Jet in all parameters -> Not clear what are
“all parameter”?

Changed to list the parameters in which subtraction is performed

Slide11: jet track correlation -> jet+track correlations (otherwise, it
sounds like intra jet track correlations)

Done

Slide13: Mention what is “ nTrack value”?

Changed to “reaching an nTrack value sampled from the signal distribution”. I will elaborate on this verbally in the talk.

General: After Slide 13 and before 15, you need to mention what you have
done once you get fake jet rate and matched jet from SLide12,13,14
Slide15,16… directly show the results.

Added a bullet point “subtract correlated background from jet signal” I am planning on speaking on this verbally while showing slide 14. Three representative pT bins are shown with the result of this method on the right side of this slide. All that I do after these background yields are measured is subtract the correlated background from the signal, functionally the same as I do with uncorrelated background.

Slide16,18,20: You need to mention what are the main sources of
systematic uncertainty in AuAu
Same for p+p

I am planning on verbally mentioning leading systematic uncertainties as I go through the results, specifically with reference to how a larger fake rate corresponds to larger systematic uncertainty. I have all systematic uncertainties shown as the first few slides in backup in case I get a question on this point. I would prefer to keep the actual text on my results slides focused on the physics message.

Slide20:
“Fake jet rate: 63%” -> You did not mentioned what is the effect of this
fake jet rate on p/pi ratio?

I have this on the slide for systematic discussion, to explain the increase in error as a function of jet R. I would prefer not to think of fake rate as having an “effect on the p/pi ratio” because running this measurement without combinatorial subtraction would be like running it without background subtraction at all. It is instead simply a component of our background subtraction technique. The inclusion of combinatorials would of course increase the proton yield, because combinatorial jets have the same hadrochemistry as the bulk. However, I do not want to show the ratio without combinatorial subtraction because I do not believe this would actually be an in-jet measurement, but rather a mix of in-jet and bulk. Showing a plot of this comparison could be misleading for our physics message.

Slide21:
In Jet p/𝛑 ratios presented for jets with 𝑝T^const > 2.0 GeV/c,

𝑝T^const> 3.0 GeV/c -> In this presentation slides, you have not shown
any results related to pT^const > 3 GeV/c results. Right?

We also discussed this in the PWG meeting today. This was an oversight on my part when I removed the 3 GeV/c results on Yi’s request yesterday. Thank you for catching this, it is now removed.
