Hello All

Since the DNP meeting has a virtual component, one can present remotely. So I strongly encourage you to submit an abstract to DNP. As Helen noted, it is very important to have a large presence from STAR at the meeting. Funding agencies are paying attention.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

Best

Hi All,

As I mentioned during the analysis meeting yesterday, the DNP abstract deadline is July 1. We have been told to expect that the DoE/NSF will  call for the nuclear science community to prepare our next Long Range Plan (LRP) for the US at the next NSAC meeting in mid-July. I therefore suspect that many discussions related to the LRP recommendations will take place both formally and informally at DNP, which is at the end of October. These discussions will largely define the path for nuclear physics research in the US for the next decade and everyone is invited to contribute.

So far we have seen only a very few abstracts proposed for DNP. Time is tight, the DNP deadline is strongly enforced, but we encourage everyone to consider submitting an abstract, attend DNP, and join the conversation. The conveners and PAC will work to quickly approve all proposed abstracts.  It is very important that the RHIC community turn out in numbers DNP. If only very few RHIC talks are given, and there are only a few members of STAR in the audience, it will be hard to convince the rest of the nuclear science community, who will be there lobbying for their own research areas, that we remain a vibrant collaboration who should be funded to run RHIC through 2025 with continued research and computing funding after to complete analyses.

Helen
