Hello Dandan, Wei

As I mentioned during the meeting, it is not clear to me the difference comes from using invariant mass shape vs. using width as a function of pT to calculate the chi2. Naively, I would expect these two methods should give similar results.

On the other hand, a crucial difference between the two methods is that the invariant mass shape is integrated over pT. Since the Jpsi width depends strongly on pT, one needs to make sure the Jpsi pT distributions between toyMC and data are similar in order to have a fair comparison in the pT-integrated invariant mass shape. Of course, this issue is avoided to a large extent when using Jpsi width vs. pT to calculate chi2. So could you show the Jpsi yield vs. pT from data (27 GeV Au+Au or 200 GeV Isobar) and from toyMC after applying the detector efficiency? You can normalize these distributions to 1 for a shape comparison. My guess is that the Jpsi mean pT is higher in ToyMC than that in data.

Thanks.

Hi, Wei
I‘m Dandan Shen. I have also encountered the problems you encountered with chi2. You can contact me if you need.
Attached is a comparison Plots of the two methods of calculating Chi2.
Hope it doesn't bother you !

Best
Dandan
