Hi Frank, Dan, Gene and Yicheng:

I looked at the 26.5 GeV FXT QA from last night and there is a
significant amount of beam scrapping the lower part of the beam
pipe. This excess background might be causing the unusual timing
I am also seeing in the eTOF and BTOF 1/beta plots, where the bands
are grossly smeared out. Also the number of events with a healthy ratio
of primary/global tracks is extremely low. The previous 26.5 GeV FXT data
looked reasonable as I recall.

Thanks Ben!
It is good to have this open issue now solved and closed.

Thanks, Daniel

Hello All,

I wanted to follow up on some of our discussion from this morning's meeting regarding the drop in the pion yield in the 3.85GeV data between days 173 and 174.

I spent some time looking through the code and realized that I was only using the fit function and not the fit result in order to obtain the pion yield. This is a quirk of ROOT where the function itself does not have the same parameter values as the fit result. With this implemented, I reran the QA code for days 172-179, the resulting strip charts can be found here: https://www.star.bnl.gov/protected/lfsupc/bkimel/2021QA/AuAu_3p85GeV_FXT_2021/AuAu_3p85GeV_FXT_2021_days172_179_QA_Monitoring.pdf

On page 6 is the pion yield, which is now completely stable and there is no drop anymore on day 174. This was an artifact of our QA code that has been resolved.
