Thanks much for the quick reply, you are correct and this fixes it.

Sorry to be exhaustive, but to be completely clear so that this doesn’t bite me again:
starver dev and stardev both work but starver .DEV does not; however for DEV2 it is required to use starver .DEV2 (with the following source $STAR/setupDEV2.csh).

Hi,
While looking into the .dev vs .DEV2 library modules today, I am running against the error that the software no longer wishes to compile… The error is:

build for #.sl73_gcc485 on host rcas6013.rcf.bnl.gov, STAR_OBJ = , STAR_LIB = /afs/rhic.bnl.gov/star/packages/.DEV/.sl73_gcc485/lib,STAR_BIN = /afs/rhic.bnl.gov/star/packages/.DEV/.sl73_gcc485/bin

cons: error in file "/afs/rhic.bnl.gov/star/packages/.DEV/mgr/Construct":

ROOT has not been set ! at /afs/rhic.bnl.gov/star/packages/.DEV/mgr/ConsDefs.pm line 36.

Compilation failed in require at /afs/rhic.bnl.gov/star/packages/.DEV/mgr/Construct line 6.

BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /afs/rhic.bnl.gov/star/packages/.DEV/mgr/Construct line 6.

Is this a temporary problem related to .dev or am I overlooking something else?
