Hi Chenliang and Frank,

Thank you for the dEdx calibration with ToF. It is very interesting.

Without ToF I don’t see the effect. This is my standard QA plots for dE/dx obtain with dev version of libraries and all calibration is in data base.

There are two thing which I don’t understand in your presentation:

  1. Our calibration point is 2.54 keV/cm at MIP, which beta*gamma = 3.77, and for pion this p = 0.526 GeV/c, TMath::Log10(0.526) = -0.28
  2. You see 2.6 keV/cm at p = 0.4 GeV/c, TMath::Log10(0.4) = -0.4. I don’t understand how it shifted. Muons  ? TMath::Log10(3.77*0.1056584) = -0.4. Look alike.

Hello TPC folks,

Chenliang is not on this list, so i am forwarding his findings to you on his behalf. His observation is that he sees the nsigma(e,pi)  issue in 7.7GeV reflected in a change of the dE/dx calibration as well.

Best,

-Frank

Dear conveners and all,

This is the following study of the nSigmaPion issue I have reported several weeks ago. We have checked the dE/dx plots and you can find the summary in this page:

If you are interested in more detail, you can look into this page:

Sincerely,

Chenliang Jin
