Hi All,
Tonko send out an e-mail yesterday requesting that for the HI running in 23 and 25 it is considered to change the trheshold for the TPC ascii's , in particular the ALTRO to 4 in order to reduce the data volume that is the limiting factor to achieve
the 4.5-5kHaz rate for Min Bias that is needed to get to the physics goals for these last runs.
At this point it is not the only limitations but is one of those.
seem to be found that for run 16
I looked back at some earlier information, in Irakli's blogs, and it seem to be found that for run 16-18
using threshold =4 was desirable (for tracking).
I also recall that from Yuri's presentations over the years that th=4 causes a worse resolution for de/dxIs this correct and by how much.
It would be useful to understand what the physics goal requirements are for dE/dx.
We should have a discussion in the TPC group on this, but do also need input from PWG/ mgt what the requirements are
best regards
Flemming
