Hi All,

FYI - I was confused by the language used in one of the questions (see below), namely when the committee refers to “O&M”. So I asked Tony Beasley and he suggested it includes everything in the OP, so would include M&O + S&C + I&C +R&D.

Hi Tony,

As we look at the lifecycle committee questions, some clarifying questions come to mind. On this question

Please address a plan to mitigate the impact from a potential 10, 20, or 30% reduction in DOE base

program scientific labor impact in any given O&M year. What is the impact on NSF O&M funding?”

what I would like to clarify is what is meant by “O&M funding”. I ask because for us the full Operations Program (OP) is (proposed to be) funded at $10.25M/year. The OP funding covers three areas: Maintenance & Operations (M&O); Software & Computing (S&C); and Research & Development (R&D). So when the question asks about “O&M” scientific labor and funding is that intended to be ALL OP activities (M&O) + (S&C) + (R&D) OR is it intended to be JUST the M&O component as we define it?

Thanks, Mike
