Dear NSF L2’s,

We just received the information from NSF regarding the lead up to the re-baseline review. It follows the same steps that we had for the NSF FDR review. So, as you can see, we may be sending out committee homework to you on the afternoon of April 10. You should keep Friday April 14 1-2pm open in case you are called upon to present any of the homework that you may have responded to. Please keep those dates in mind.

Your PO

From Mark Coles to the review Committee (the yellow highlights indicate what is relevant to us):

Also, in the coming days you will be contacted by the ATLAS upgrade team to provide you with a link to a password protected website containing information supporting the review: updated status reports, technical plans, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, etc.. That website should be fully populated by March 27 – three weeks prior to the review (aside from the speakers’ slides to be presented April 18-20).  Information about available lodging will also be provided to you in the near future.

To prepare for the review, we will hold three teleconferences prior to the review:

Telecon #1:         1pm, Friday, Feb. 3  (<30 minutes) – This will be a very brief organizational meeting of the panel to answer any questions you have concerning travel, the review process, and preparation of the panel’s report.

Telecon #2:         1pm, Monday, April 10 (1 hour) – We will discuss the review materials provided to the review panel by ATLAS. We will prepare a brief (~10) list of questions or requests for information. This will be an opportunity to ask ATLAS for information you didn’t see in their supporting materials and to seek clarification regarding what was provided. The list of questions will be given to the ATLAS upgrade team immediately after the telecon.

Telecon #3:         1pm, Friday April 14 (about 1 hour) – This will be a joint telecon with the ATLAS team. They will provide responses to the panel’s list of questions or seek a better understanding of the panel’s interests so that their presentations the following week are aligned with what the panel wants to know.
