Hi Hong,

Thanks for the update. It is very important that
ALFE1 make the November submission date, so if using SPI
reduces the risk of further delays, I definitely agree
it should be done.

                Sorry I missed the meeting.

Here is the status of ALFEv1, based on input from Mietek:

ALFE1 analog part is currently being finalized, and given that we still have a little bit of time, additional improvements on the layout level are being implemented e.g. shrinking Shaper amplifiers layout by ~ 20% or addition of de-coupling capacitors for bias lines.

ALFE1 slow control will be implemented by means of SPI, and SPI block has been implemented on both schematic and layout levels. Previously, we were hoping to implement I2C, but due to relatively limited documentation, we concluded that implementing I2C in ALFE1 would introduce too much risk. We’ll still be able to control ALFE1 with the LpGBT by means of its GPIOs. There is a possibility of implementing both SPI and I2C in ALFE1, with a bypass option, but that strongly depends if the Omega group is able to provide us with a plug-and-play I2C block for ALFE1.
