ADC:
- Packaging of first production wafers at JCET halted due to observation of pitting on the bond pads of wafers. Investigation of several weeks with JCET included discussions with CERN (Kostas and Hucheng) and FNAL
(similar issues on the DUNE COLDadc/COLDATA chip). JCET did a test bonding on several chips and ran QC tests. Tests passed, and continue packaging of 1 wafer from each production lot and remaining engineering wafers. Attempting to get more details on the QC
test criteria from JCET, and following up with imec/TSMC. Investigating additional QC testing for these initial chips to verify wire bonds (ie vibration table).
- Priming of packaging paused during wire bonding investigation.
- Additional tray of good, tested chips available for half-crate.
- Robotic test-stand (RTS) socket performance concerns continue. Investigations of cleaning and connections made but does not seem to be source. Similar degradation observed at other test sites (IJClab) after of
order 1000 insertions. Iterating with manufacturer (VAI) including sending them a poorly performing socket for analysis and repair has not been successful. Starting initial approximations of cost (schedule and budget) of switching sockets.
- Preparation for radiation testing, scheduled for Oct. Radiation test board PCB fabrication in progress, assembly (less COLUTA chips) ready. Alternative option for assembling COLUTA chips at end of September identified
and contacted.
OPTICS:
- Received 2300 VTRx+ so far (expected 50%, or 7000, in current schedule). Delay due to production and QC at CERN. Additional chips delivered at CERN, awaiting shipping to SMU (or for reconnectoriztion).
- VTRx+ link to MTP connectors in progress. Updated quote received and included in BCP. Investigating shipping strategy (reconnectorization done in Taiwan).
- Data and Control links: MTP connectors available in lab, testing in progress.
- Optical fiber saddles and standoff fabrication investigated. Confirm halogen-free material. Custom tool production ordered and in progress.
- QC test setups in preparation. Studying need of optical spectrum analyzer and whether or not this can be fulfilled with existing QC testing info done by VL+ collaboration at CERN.

filter for your CAM’s name within column D.
***PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS IN FILLING OUT THE STATUS
SHEETS:***
1. Please provide the status in columns: *L, M, N, O, and S*. Make sure
you provide the “*Expected Finish*” date(column *O*) for all
activities in progress. This is important for us to re-calculate
EAC, the float, and the critical path.
2. The remaining units are calculated based on the original duration of
the activity and the percentage completed. Please provide “*Units to
Complete*” (column *S*) for activities in progress. It is if you
expect to use more or less labor for a specific task to be completed
or the cost for material/travel is different than originally
planned. Total Cost per resource from P6, is shown in column *T
*(“*Planned Cost*”). The “*Remaining Cost*” (based on the remaining
units from P6), is in column *U*; the “*Updated Remaining Cost*”
(column *V*), also called: ETC or Estimate-to-Complete); the
“*Updated Total Cost*” (column *W*) also called: (EAC or Estimate at
Complete, calculated based on updated units); and the *Delta EAC
minus baseline cost* (column *X*); are formula fields that provide
calculations on how the cost changes when the Remaining Units are
adjusted.
3. Make sure that you enter the actual start date for all started
activities and finish date for all activities that are 100%
completed. All *_NEW_* actual start and finish dates *_MUST BE_*
within the current reporting period.
4. Do *NOT* change the actual start dates if they are already in the
spreadsheet – EVMS does not allow changing the past. If the actual
start date was entered incorrectly in the previous month, just leave
it as it is.
5. Do *NOT* enter dates after *_August 31, 2024_*, in actual
start/finish dates (columns *M* and *N*); this creates errors in P6.
6. Do *NOT* decrease the percentage complete in column *L*.
7. Do *NOT* write any notes in the spreadsheet. If you want to add a
comment use column *Y*.
8. Do *NOT* change the formatting of the cell once you edit it. The
spreadsheet will automatically highlight the change in *YELLOW*.
*_Additional Note_*:
If progress was made on future activities that are not in the status
sheet, you can contact your project controls specialist and ask for
their help with statussing the activities directly in P6.
