Dear All,
Below please find the minutes from our eRHIC IR Design mtg held on July 21, 2017.
Greetings,
Bill

Minutes from the eRHIC IR Design mtg held on July 21, 2017.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* We started the meeting by going through a Presentation by Holger:
- Looking at B0 Spectrometer Halbach solution
- Best choice for compensating magnet seems to be a Halbach magnet
- Slide shown listing Pros and Cons
- Explains why one would want to run the Halbach magnet at 77 K (avoid de-magnetization)
- Bit of a technical problem is assembling such a magnet without de-magnetizing the material.
- Some iteration to be done on the best material to use
- Care needs to be taken (e.g. interlock) that the B0 magnet is never ramped unless the Halbach is cooled to 77K (otherwise de-magnetize Halbach)
- Materials that seem like possible choices are Neomax 42AH or 45SH
- This material has to operate at 133K (a bit difficult)
- This is now the "Baseline" design
- This is different from baseline design of about a month ago

* General Discussion about the geometry of this B0 magnet. Possible spaces for detector placements discussed.
* Discussion between Bob and Guillaume about the details of matching the IR optics to the rest of the lattice.
- Bob, Brett, and Guillaume will meet next week (week starting July 24th) to work on matching the IR optics to the rest of the lattice
* Elke brings up the need for a "geometry" design to allow for looking at the integration of detectors. Ideally this would be something like a 3-D CAD model of the IR magnets and beam pipes through the IR region. Others expressed interest to see how this fits into the tunnel. This would take some designer time. Bill will speak with Ferdinand about this. Deemed important by all.
* Next meeting will be on August 4th
- Agenda:
- Update on geometry
- Bob's parameter sets
- Update on efforts to match IR Optics to Lattice.
End of meeting
