Dear all,
Here is a brief summary of the ECCE PID Working Group Meeting on last Friday.
---------------- Greg started the meeting with an ECCE PID status update. Specifically, he showed a few slides of the updated ECCE sketch design, physical boundaries of PID detectors in full kinematic range based on discussions with ECAL and TOF groups. He also highlighted the simulation progresses from the dRICH and hpDIRC team using Fun4All. Both are at the stage of validating physical processes and storing informations for reconstruction.
Following Greg’s presentation, Tanja showed the major items for the ECCE detector concept, which included Optimization of EE-EMCal and DIRC locations, barrel detector configuration and hadron endcap HCAL. Extensive discussion was focused on the location of AC-LGAD in order to maintain full EMCal coverage. Questions were raised about the purpose of having an AC-LGAD in the barrel, its cost and dimension. We need to invite Wei Li and co to give an update in future PID meeting.
The third presentation during today’s meeting was given by Xuan Li who is the ECCE tracking co-convener. Xuan listed the preferred tracking technology choices in each region: E-Cap, Barrel and H-Cap. She then showed the ECCE tracking detector reference geometry. There are a few questions asked during Xuan’s presentation. For the PID group, it is important to know the tracking quality from trackers (angular resolution, etc). It will be good to know the preference of the technology choice and the associated costs. Murad Sarsour commented that, for mRICH in the E-Cap region, the PID requirement is less stringent in comparison with these in barrel and H-Cap. It was underlined that for the hpDIRC and dRICH 0.5 mrad tracking resolution is absolutely crucial to deliver desired performance.
Given the limited time available, Xiaochun’s report will be given in future meetings. -----------------

Dear All interested in PID@ECCE,
We will have our ECCE PID WG meeting tomorrow:
We will use ZOOM for all PID@ECCE meetings:
Meeting ID: 872 4043 0439 Passcode: PID
In addition to general updates we will have discussion with our Tracking WG friends and news from mRICH&LAPPD test beam. If you would like to show some slides let us know we will add you to agenda.
Cheers,
Greg and Xiaochun
