Hi Xuan,

Thanks for the additional information. I agree with you – now that we are beginning to converge on a “baseline” ECCE detector it’s a good time to discuss our strategy for accurately representing the service and support material for all detectors.  We certainly won’t have detailed designs, but it is very important to have the right order of magnitude of material in the right locations so we are realistic about the overall detector performance. While the details will vary for each detector, having a strategy that we can clearly articulate in the proposal is important to show the level of attention to detail we have put into the simulations.

Regards,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for going through details of the ECCE tracking meeting summary and the presented slides by Leo.

We did have dedicated discussions about implementing the estimated service parts for silicon trackers in the Fun4All framework and the computing team led by Jin and Cameron has initialized the tasks for this. For what has implemented for the All-Silicon Tracker, maybe Ray and/or someone who implemented the model could provide a nice summary on this.

Since the service parts will accompany all detector subsystems, it's better to have a general understanding about the space requirements, material budgets, etc. Maybe this is a topic that we could discuss in further details in upcoming ECCE detector meetings with participants from detector experts, engineers and simulation experts?

Further suggestions and comments are very welcome!

                                                                                                             Xuan

Hi Xuan,

Many thanks for sending out this summary. I apologize for missing the meeting on Friday, I was caught in an sPHENIX collaboration meeting discussion.

I was looking through the slides, especially Leo Greiner’s very nice slides on the supports and services required or modern Si detectors. At the end he suggests various levels of approximation for simulating the material budget for the supports and services in the absence of a complete design. I’m curious if these was discussion of this within the working group, and what is currently implemented in the simulations? In ECCE are we using what is already implemented in the all-Si tracker model, which I think is a homogenous model of the services and supports?

John

Hi All,

The minutes for today's ECCE tracking meeting has been posted to the indico and the summary is the following:

1,  silicon detector services and support estimates by Leo Greiner (LBNL):

Nice summary of detailed service layout and support estimated has been provided by Leo's presentation. Broad discussions on the all-silicon tracker geometry implemented with the preliminary service layout and support.

Suggest to check the different service layout in the simulation and explore the impacts.

2,  EIC background studies by Jin Huang (BNL):

Nice summary of the beam gas and synchrotron radiation background studies with Be beam pipe and 2 micron Au coating Be beam pipe. A order of 3 magnitude reduction on synchrotron radiation with the 2 micron Au coating Be beam pipe. Look forward to see the final design to be implemented in simulation and check the impacts on the tracking performance.

        Thanks.

                                                                                Xuan
