Dear All,
see below the announcement of the GD/I meeting next week. Perhaps the most important
message is that we will be getting a formal charge soon, and there will be a fair selection process / Collaboration review in March 2023, which will determine, which of the pfRICH / mRICH options becomes a baseline, and which an alternative one for ePIC detector.
Next Wednesday we should discuss the outcome of this GD/I meeting.

which were not shown today, because I was attending the EIC project calorimetry review.
Slide #1 tells you Chiba colleagues can consider producing n =
1.03 aerogel in small tiles with optical quality sides. It almost sounds like nobody has asked them so far to do so. But we will see.
Slide #2 tells you Incom agreed to produce a bench test HRPPD
tile, with a multi-pattern custom ceramic base plate, which would meet the needs of both pfRICH (or mRICH) and DIRC.
Slide #4 tells you there is nothing unusual is shifting to the
near UV range in a finely pixellated proximity focusing setup. Belle II did it, we should do it as well, and should rather ask Incom to focus on increasing the QE/PDE of their existing tiles rather than to spend time on shifting the photocathode QE range
to the right.
Also we had a lengthy discussion with Alex Eslinger tonight, which made it more or clear
to me that we have to stick to a smaller (120mm) HRPPD formfactor, and be happy if we are not requested to go further down in size because of the lack of space for the central tracker services & Co along the DIRC supprot frame circumference.
Best regards,
Alexander.

Dear Alexander and Xiaochun,
The GD/I group is planning to hold its next weekly meeting on December 12th at 9
AM ET. We would like to have a discussion on the charge for the EPIC review of the backwards RICH, tentatively scheduled in March 2023.
The GD/I group has drafted a charge, which was sent to the Steering Committee yesterday. After its
approval, it will be sent to you and everyone involved. We hope this can be done in the next few days, but wanted to give you advanced notice of the plans for the meeting this upcoming Monday.
During the meeting on Monday we hope to get your feedback on the the charge and some initial thoughts
on how to address the questions. We are not asking you to present or prepare any new material on such short notice.
Please feel free to forward this notice to others who may be interested in the meeting. A formal
announcement of the meeting will be sent out to the full GD/I email list later this week once we hear back from the Steering Committee.
Joe Osborn, for the GD/I conveners
