Hi Brian, editors,
This is a really nice document. A few broader comments, mostly on closing the loop of the argument:
Section 3.2 on Particle Occupancy
The section starts off with the motivation
"to understand any potential degradation in PID capability" but it never says whether
the distances at high inelasticity or in a jet do lead to a degradation, or not. Is there
anything we can say about whether the delta-R shown are acceptable?
Section 5.1:
The section starts off with the statement that the electromagnetic calorimeter can
" no longer be used efficiently" for "(p < 5 GeV/c)" for electron identification. Then it concludes
that the pfRICH can provide good pion suppression for "p < 2 GeV/c", and talks a bit
about extending higher with a loss of efficiency. Is the gap between 2 and 5 GeV/c
a major or minor issue?
Some more minor things:
I think on p. 39 either drop the "square of" in "square of the saturated angle" or drop the sqrt symbol.
same paragraph: "demonstrate"->"demonstrated"
On p. 42-43 you talk about clock distribution, and end with etc. This sentence might
raise undue alarm, such as "Is this really going to introduce an independent jitter per
channel that allows you to do 1/sqrt(n)?"

As was discussed in the meeting this morning, we are releasing a draft version of the pfRICH CDR to this list for review and comment. We kindly ask that everyone have a look and send their feedback to the editors (Alexander, Alex J., Kong, Thomas, and myself) within 1 week. We will then incorporate changes and release the CDR to the full collaboration. We would also like to take this time to thank everyone who contributed to the pfRICH effort over the last ~6 months. This CDR represents a truly impressive amount of work by many people covering all aspects of the detector design and validation.Thank you.Brian - for the editors
